But, uh, let's start, I guess, by catching the audience up, right? So this is, uh, year of goddess awakening. Um, for those of you that aren't familiar, there was another goddess awakening, uh, two years ago, 22 same, same venue.
And all of that, um, was really Samantha's first run at throwing an actual festival. Prior to that, she had thrown a lot of events, but really wanted to do a festival. Um, And I would say for all intents and purposes, the first year was also a success. We had no major issues. A lot of the DJs were great. The production, uh, sounded and looked awesome.
And we got a lot of people like ears perked and, uh, hey, this looks cool and I want to get involved with this. So, um, I guess kind of fast forward and I was actually thinking before this episode, I don't know how deep I want to unpack this, but I think for those that are close to Samantha know that there was a lot of things in her personal life happening, um, including.
Divorce and selling her house and moving and all of that. It's a lot at
once. Yeah
It was a lot at once in the heart of planning a festival for the second year So she actually ended up postponing into this year. Um, and it was super important for her and uh, I would like to start I guess and kind of kick this episode off by saying I'm, just super fucking proud of her for for doing it and for making it round of applause And killed it she killed it And just like going through everything that she went through and really like making that promise to herself that like, no, like, like even when she canceled it the second year after, like, we hadn't really got too deep into planning, but she was like, no, like I'm not.
Like canceling this. We are coming back. She was very intentional about that. And, uh, she did it and she fucking crushed it. And this year was top notch. Yeah, it was fucking awesome. And I think again, if you are on social media at all, and you're in our circles at all, you've been seeing the photos and the videos, and you know, the unfortunate thing is, is as great as our media team did shout out to Xavier.
Um, and we'll talk more about that here later as well. The pictures and videos, unfortunately, just don't do it a justice. Like you got to see that. Yeah,
I showed, I've shown so many people this past weekend. Just I told him like, Hey, I've met a lot of new people. Like, Hey, what do you do? I'm like, I am filming this video or the show, whatever.
Just get back from this festival. And I'm showing them photos or videos. I'm like, it looks cool on here, but it can't, you can't do justice. It's like talking about it. You got to be there for it.
Yeah. It's like, I've seen pictures of the green Canyon, but
yeah.
Me neither. Probably only goes so far. Yeah. So definitely.

Should we start at the top of the pyramid with the, uh, absolutely. The event coordinator herself, Samantha, and just kind of how she did this. So, uh, I kind of wanted to start, let's back up cause this was your guys's first year working with goddess.
Why don't you guys each give like a two minute synopsis. Of kind of, uh, how you met Samantha and got involved with her and then with Goddess. Actually want to kick us off. Once
upon a time there was this place called Bonner we used to go to and uh, some friends of some friends were like, Hey, we're going to invite some people from Oklahoma.
Samantha was one of those people that came and instantly clicked and I kept in touch with all the Oklahoma's and they were like, we're going to come back next year. and here we are. How many years later?
That was what year again? 12.
2012. So that was 12 years ago. And every
year until
almost every year.
Because I
think Samantha's, Samantha went every year that I went and, and didn't go all the years ago. I think she hasn't.
Yeah. I think maybe as Boston's covid. Yeah. Yeah. Same as me. Yeah. Yeah. Same. Um, and that's kind of started her whole love for festivals I think is coming with us and. You know, we, other whole friend group, can't balls deep that eventually as we got older, we're like, Hey, we could possibly, you know, work together.
You know, we had the other festival that we try to do with Cameron and then we had who refugees and all that. And she took her shot at it. Like she was like, I really want to do this. Cause she's always been very organized and been like, I want to be a part of something bigger and now she's doing it. Um, and then
for the longest time she wanted to be an event coordinator, but always had it in the back of her head of like, but I want to really throw a music festival and I think I could do it.
Yeah. Yeah. And she did great with, yeah, she did awesome. Um, really proud of her once again, but then she asked me to be a part of the media team. So you want to do that after a movie? And I was like, yeah, I do. Cause I really didn't want to get back into filming and it is, It's rolling. It's happening.
Pun intended.
Nice. But,
uh, um, yeah, I'm starting on that this week. I'm trying to figure out the music for it and all that, but anyways, I'm so glad Samantha presented me with this opportunity. I'm so thankful. And getting to work with your friends and then make new friends, like, what's, there's not much better stuff than that, you know?
Yeah. It's awesome.
Daniel, um, give your synopsis.
My introduction to Samantha is almost identical to Xavier's. Uh, just a year later.
So, 2013.
Yeah. When I moved here in 2013. Yeah.
He got thrown into it.
I moved here to throw a music festival. Yeah. And, uh, through the festival in 2013 and then my first Bonnaroo was 2014.
Samantha was there for, I think, both of those. Um. Yeah, 2014. Yeah. Yeah. See you. And yeah, after that, Oklahoma and Texas, and we just kind of had that rivalry friendship and we've pretty much just thrown every festival we've done together as a group together. And I didn't go to the first goddess. Uh, I think I was gearing up for basic for the army leading in and, um, this year I just reached out and was like, Hey, where do you need me?
Yeah, I told Smith. I was like, if DJ's out there, he'll, he'll be productive. I know that for a fact. Yeah.
He was like, where do you need me to worry? Got me. I'm doing it
when, as you guys saw, like, it takes a shit ton of people, as you guys know, to like, make that stuff happen. So, um, yeah. And honestly, I really think, I think Samantha would echo this.
I really think that is her strong suit. Like, I think, She's an excellent, uh, just like facilitator and like coach slash manager of like, she may not know how to do everything, but she knows how to get the right people in the right spot.
Right where
they can handle it and then she can like work with them through it.
But Uh, and that's that's what she's done with this team. Um starting with Her right hand guy brian big fan. Not me. Not me. No, he's a cooler brian. Brian lindsey much cooler much wiser He, uh, is a much better DJ than I, um, and speaks way more fluent German than me. But, uh, Brian was, uh, in charge of a lot of the artist contracts, booking artists.
Putting their riders together figuring out transportation hotels like all of that kind of stuff and I mean we'll get into the artist more here in a second But gosh dang me how many people were how many artists were out there throughout the weekend like I should I
think like 54
Yeah And then again, of course like Smith was helping him and he had some other help as well But Brian was really handling all All of that stuff behind the scenes.
So, um, if you know anything about music festivals, having musicians is an important piece of it. So, uh, maybe
vital. It's really cool when you do have them.
Yeah. I thought not only did Brian do an excellent job putting the lineup together, but also I guess I should, this is probably more him and Samantha.
So I, I can't really, but just the schedule of it, like how the different genres I felt like, you know, it was like real housey during the day. And then we'd get into like the deep words and it was like acoustic
stuff. It was like acoustic, you know, um, solo sets. And then it went into more of the EDM, like the nighttime vibes.
And yeah, I think it'd be really cool. Um, I know she's wanting to try to get some like full bands out there.
And each day kind of had its own, um, Musical vibe to it too.
So I'd say was it what was a day that Well,
like the day, and again, I don't want to jump the gun and get into it. But like, uh, like Carrie Lynn played her set in the morning.
And that was more like country, uh, like singer songwriter type stuff. Like what, 3 o'clock in the afternoon? Something like that, yeah. And then later that night was when the Headliners, uh, you know, Keevin and Lita Lotus played. But, uh, anyway, yeah, just a shout out to Brian for putting that all together, man.
Absolutely crushed it. Uh, yeah, it's, it's hard, like with the indie festival like that, where you don't have like a 14 million budget to like put a lineup together that like makes sense. And, and most of all, I think the only artist that didn't end up making it was Beat Kitty, who I think ended up getting COVID like the day before.
She's doing better and uh, T's and P's. For beat kitty for show. Uh, but dude, just like the whole team of civil. So we already obviously had Maddo and Dwayne on the podcast. Right. Uh, Maddo was in charge of the workshops, which we'll get into here in a little bit. And Dwayne, as you guys know, was the vendor coordinator.
So we plugged a few of the vendors that were going to be out there and you guys all went out and tried it. We're going to tell you about some of those. Some of our favorites here, uh, but, uh, excellent job to both of those folks. I thought vendors were awesome. I, again, I didn't personally get to attend the workshops a lot, but I heard good things.
Uh, a lot of good, uh, things happening and healings happening and people like working through some real trauma that they like needed to work through. So, which Samantha wanted to be a big part of the festival. So that was, um, Jordan, our girl Jordan, uh, in charge of all the volunteers. Again, I just like, we didn't have any issues with that.
People were where they're supposed to, and you've done volunteer work before. So, you know, that shit can be a pain in the ass. Yeah.
Especially when, uh, you know, people don't show up, which happens. But she did very well. She was on top of her stuff. Yeah, really?
Very few volunteers that just no showed all together.
Yeah. Yeah. No, she's definitely and then, you know, She was like main in the gate there till like 10 o'clock that first night. She was like i'm We're here like we're doing
yeah She came up there with me to close exactly came up with me for a little while to close the first night
Dj is an excellent gatekeeper.
I will say that if you need a gate guy dj Top tier.
Gatekeeper. I'll gatekeep anything. Dude, who's
that, who's that black guy from the Avengers that doesn't let anybody come to the port? You guys know what I'm talking about? I'm like Thor's What was
his character's name? Yeah, it was Idris Elba's character.
That's DJ. Shoot, what is his name? So, I'm Gandalf. DJ and my boy, Matt. Shout out my boy, Matt, the volunteer. You're saying I'm Gandalf? You shall not pass. I could be you, DJ. I'm Gandalf. You gotta get y'all the same height, so why not y'all need a gatekeeper? Hire my
board. Dean . Uh, how about your boss? Sally in charge of the media team.
She's awesome. Worked her ass off.
Um, she's a great human being. She's very, like, communicates very well, has awesome ideas. I love to work with her again too. But, um. She kept it together. She was really like, Hey, we'll plan stuff here and there. Um, she's the one loading stuff up to the social media platforms essentially.
Yeah. She like took over the social media platforms like mid weekend.
Yeah. And she's great at it. And also she's an artist that played too.
Yeah. SWAT up. We'll get into that. Yeah. Uh, and a little bit too. Yeah, no, I actually had the joy of taking Sally back to the airport. Yeah. Uh, which I said you and it was awesome because I 100 percent agree with everything you said.
I think she's awesome, but it was also the most depressing part of the weekend. It's like, Oh, she's real sad. A lot of people
were, you were dropping her off and heading home after you dropped her off, right? There was no going back to the venue after that one.
That was it. So yeah, double the depression, triple actually.
Super sad for everybody involved. Ah, my boy. Fucking Gerald dude.
Oh, yeah, Gerald held it down with the stage.
We go way back to I met him That first night and I was just hey, man, what's up? I'm Brian blah blah blah and He's like young Jim and then I don't know how it came up But he was like, Oh, you know, Xavier.
And I was like, yeah, yeah. I know Xavier a little bit. And he's like, he's like, Oh, me and Xavier go way back, like 17 years. And I was like, Oh shit. Yeah. And again, man, just, just ran that whole
thing. I used to watch him do singing DJ the clothes back in the day. And yeah, it's
hard. That's a hard job being like stage manager and like getting DJs ready to go and transition them on and off with like, cause like with that shit, like you don't really stop.
Like it just. Flows right into the next set.
It's yeah.
That would give me anxiety. Yeah. The
timing, like, He made it look easy.
Made it look easy, son.
Yeah.
Shout out to Jeron the Noey in charge of, uh, the lady tent. Uh, I didn't get
to go in, but it looked awesome. Well, because you're not a lady, Xavier. You're not allowed, Xavier.
Yeah. Oh yeah. There was a sign.
And I thought, uh, that was just a great kind of add on for a lot of the female, cause, cause apparently, of course we don't know this because we're ignorant men, but, uh, that's like a real issue for a lot of like women artists when they go to places, there's like no place except like a shitty bathroom and a shitty mirror to like get, especially like you can imagine most camping festivals are like, oh, you have a porta potty to get ready in.
And it's like,
yeah, no, I thought it was cool. Like I looked at it as it was getting set up and they had like a changing room tent inside the tent. And then they had like the table and the full length mirrors and stuff. So they could do all the getting ready. They needed.
Yup. Yeah, no, just a great idea. And a nice touch.
Yeah. Great touch. Nice, nice ladies touch to it, but, um, I'm, I'm sure there's probably, Oh, uh, well, we'll get to that here too. Uh, I'm sure there's other non production people that were all Helped out a lot and were on the team. Um Oh, we also forgot about sarah with the art installations too. Sarah was awesome.
And also, uh What I loved about sarah she was just one like I also just saw her pitching in everywhere Yeah, absolutely. I always loved that like on a festival. I
helped her take down one of her things. She set up So if you don't if you're not there to see someone put some stuff up like you can appreciate it if you're like Piece by piece, taking stuff down, you're like, you can really get appreciation for the effort that goes into it.
I'm like, you put all this up by yourself and it's taking us a minute to take it down. But she would show me like ideas she wants to do for like the next year. And then she wants to get into, and it's cool to see someone have that drive and have that passion for like, I want to make this place look aesthetically pleasing for everybody.
And that's one thing we like did not have it all the first year
I wanted to ask you like because you were there for the first year You you're really gonna be able to see the growth from all the years because you're a part of the team and I wanted to ask you like how much of a Improvement. Did you see this year compared to the years prior?
Yeah.
Well, and that's a good question I I would say the obvious answer is the stage. Uh, and we'll get into more of Eddie's story here in a little bit, but like the stage art, I don't know, what do you call that stage art installations with the goddess head and the wings? Yes. Yes. The stage design.
Yeah.
And then like the way Turner did the led walls, where it was like, Layered front
and staggers if you're sitting right in front of you.
It looks like it's all of it is Yeah, but I would say behind in front and like
goddess head with the projector. Oh, yeah with the wings and everything Uh was definitely I think the most obvious one Uh, there was more vendors this year. So that was kind of cool Uh,
were there that many were there as many workshops?
No, there's no workshops. The first, wow. Okay. The silent disco stage was actually another stage that just rained later into the evening. But the reason they turned into a silent disco is because they're having issues with the local community and playing until four 30 in the morning. So, um, and yeah, I thought I heard great things with the silent disco.
I heard it went excellent and, um, thought it's a great, like, again, that's just how like some of those mind works. It's really
cool. Yeah.
So I, that's probably all the.
So you didn't get to go to it, but you did, right? Silent
Disco?
Yeah. So they had two DJs playing, right? So you could switch channels. That's an awesome idea.
But it's
kind of always been like that at most. Unless it's one of those major silent discos where it's like big name DJs. See, when I went
to Bonner and I went to Silent Disco, I remember it being one. Yeah, I remember. It's been a long time. They had bigger
DJs there.
One, but you can switch channels. And I was like, there's different vibes.
You're like house over here. The dubstep in this one. And then you just take your headphones off and you're just watching people just dance different. You're like, what's the color? Is there a little Ellie? Oh, it was into the red D dot. Okay. Okay. Um, it was cool. And people were out there just getting it.
You can't hear shit.
Oh yeah. It's great. People watch it. It's
great.
Um, but yeah, dude, I, I made the comment to Samantha and Turner throughout the weekend. Like if we can make the same jump from year two to three that we did from year one to two, year three is going to be fucking mind. I don't even know what to expect there.
So everything bigger, I guess, but, uh, yeah, better
time.
That's right, dude. Um, a lot, a lot of momentum for sure. And speaking of Turner and speaking of Eddie. My hat is completely off to fifth dimension sound and lighting. and all those dudes. Oh yeah. They
fucking
crushed
it. Yeah. The work they do ask, the work they do and the level they can do it at is like driving me to be more obsessed with stage work and lighting and stuff and just appreciate what they do every time we work with them.
Yeah, it's
crazy dude. And they're so good. Like everybody on there. It's like, uh, it's like Ocean's 11 dude with their team of like fucking J Mac fog machine expert, you know what I mean?
J Mac the fog machine expert. Oh yeah.
And like they all just have like their own like gig that they like are an expert in, you know what I mean?
And a lot of
them also do other stuff too, like they're like, Oh, I do lights. I can help set up stage, but also I can DJ and I can produce. I was going to say a lot of talented people. I think they
all DJ was, I was going to say what's cool about Turner's team is they're all DJs. So they all understand how a light show should work for a DJ and how the fogger should work for a DJ and how to set up the lighting to make it look the best.
So like they have so many legs up and they're all capable of running each piece of equipment out there in front of house. So like Somebody who gets bored wants to swap they can just literally swap
I love like I love asking skinny B questions cuz when he reads he describes stuff. He's like,
well, it's just So nonchalant Yeah,
he's like, well, you know, I'm like cool man, he's watch him DJ back in there too and he did yeah, he
Broke down
he music in the middle.
He had a said I was like, dude Damn, dude, you really went in on this. Yeah,
this was one of my favorite sets for music. He don't do it anymore
really, but he's like, yeah, I used to do back in the day. Like, yeah, I saw he's an old, old uh, Jedi. Yeah. At
this point. Turner too. Well, well, the first times I met Turner, I ended up going back to his house.
I've never seen
him DJ till recently. Really? Oh, the first
time I met Turner, we sat up in his uh, dining room and scratched till like four in the morning.
Audio bots. Yeah, Turner can throw
down.
So shout out to Turner, shout out to skinny B, shout out J Mack, Curtis,

Eddie dude.
I did want to shout out to Eddie. I did want to tell Eddie's story too, because he shared it on Facebook. Um, but we had all kind of, it was intense. So Eddie, for those of you that don't know, is in the Asheville, North Carolina area. Hold on. Let me, uh, actually do this. Um, Asheville or Eddie's actually in the Asheville, North Carolina area, and was pretty impacted by the hurricane.
So the point, like he was.
He told me he was finishing AYA on generator power.
Yeah. He, I don't know. I don't want to say he lost his home or anything, but I do know he lost power for like, Maybe several weeks and obviously with so he had the head of I am made but didn't have the wings. So he had to finish the wings like those last four or five days strictly off gas power generator.
Um, To make sure that it was done in time for the festival and did all of that completed it and then drove all of that shit From north carolina to arkansas completely undamaged and like ready to go
could have been way different Yeah, instead of a hurricane coming way different man. So
shout out to eddie.
I just It would have been very easy for him to throw his hands up and say This sucks. I can't do it. I'm not gonna be able to make it. I'm, sorry guys act of god You
And nobody would have been mad at him. We went to bed at night, man.
Not at all. Asheville was devastated. And like, still is. You know what I mean?
But the legend of Eddie is cemented now. The legend of Eddie is cemented now. And that's what I'm saying. Um, so, shout out to Eddie. And I told him this, I think I commented on his Facebook post. It was just like, super inspirational. Like, if Eddie can fucking do that for the festival, then like, You can pick up a bag of trash and take it to the dumpster.
You know what I mean? Like, I just think that was dope. So shout out. Fifth dimension
in the house. The whole fifth dimension team. Cause the festival gods threw curve balls at us this festival too. And the production team dug in and Turner did what he had to do to save the day.
Driving from you
want to tell that story?
Yeah. What happened?
Um, y'all were all at the Airbnb and I was laying in my tent and I could see the lights from them messing with the projector, mapping everything. And they got done around three 34 o'clock. And I think around five o'clock something happened with the projector and the lens fell out. And so we all got there in the morning and y'all saw the chaos that literally fell out or it was an internal lens.
And they were pretty sure. Fell out
and then it didn't turn back on. Um, yeah.
And then, yeah, so it was coming down to maybe I'm going to drive a broken projector from Arkansas back to Nashville and turn around and drive back. And then it came down to Turner just being the only one who could do it. And the only one that wanted, that was willing to let it happen and do it himself.
And he,
he
did the turn to Mario Andretti and hauled tail from Arkansas to Nashville, picked up the new one, brought it back. What,
15 hours straight? What was it, 14? Something like that, 13. Six and a half
hours, seven hours, yeah.
I remember him being like, I don't want anyone else to get the ticket, I might get.
Yeah, that was why he
didn't want me to do it, because he didn't want me to get the ticket he could have got, so. Um, but yeah, he got that projector back, it worked fine for the whole festival, and then as we all know, it was a lot of fun. Six hours after the festival ended that projector went out. Oh, no
way.
Yeah We used it to its cool but uh too much power, yeah, just like everybody
involved in goddess in my opinion just Takes it serious and goes above and beyond what they're asked to do to make sure it all runs smoothly
Yeah, I agree. And that's how you make a beautiful thing.

from our break. That's welcome back folks. Um, okay. Got us awakening. Now let's get into the meat and potatoes. What the people came to see about the artists, um, and all the amazing acts that we had this weekend, starting with our headliners. We got real deep.
We got real dark. We got real dangerous with Kiva and Lita Lotus, both coming to bless the stage and both threw down hard. They were

I got to sit around and talk with them for a little bit. Um, that was awesome. Just hearing their opinions about, you know, music production and working with other artists and whatnot and just they both were very big fans of the production team and just how they got there. Everyone from people brought them there, everyone who's helped them, you know, get into their sets and take care of them afterwards.
They were big fans and that's, that's great that I can, you know, that you can witness that. Cause sometimes it's not like that and people don't want to work with venues or whatever again.
Yeah. They were telling me that too, of like, How many times they've had it where like the person that's supposed to pick them up is like at the wrong airport or that Super late and then they show up and like production teams like not ready at all and it's just like a shit show Yeah,

Shout out to to samantha and brian for making it all happen and shout out to kiva and lita lotus for uh, Just being some badass rocking our asses off. Like that whole friday night, dude was just Rocking dude, it was uh, it was a fucking that was friday evening Was a good one. Was a fun evening. I was actually listening to her road to got a set and I was pissed that I missed her set because I was like, damn, like all the hip hop samples and ad libs, you know, that's my shit. We just love being able to like finish out the evening after the two headliners there uh Another one of our favorite sets all weekend Also our dear friend who xavier just got off the phone with geist of on brooklyn y'all.

hardcore techno dude, and uh, that's brian's specialty and he's always He like to me and Brian, I hope you appreciate me saying this. I feel like he's always like worried about it He's always like yeah Like everyone else playing this and i'm like playing techno and I was like dog you got and he just well Crushed it.
There were a few I was he played and I think uh, citron, right Yeah, he played house, he played house too, and then
he's kind of an old school DJ too. Yeah.
And like, yeah, that's my vibe right there.
But I heard a lot of people throughout the week and be like, y'all usually don't fuck with techno, but that guy's Chevron Brooklyn set was awesome.
He, yeah, he did it right.
I always picture, um, like Guy Chavannes Brooklyn is that music. If I was like going to war in like a tron, like futuristic, that would be like, I'm in the spacecraft. We're about to land on like nebular five. I got guys who are five specifically that planet. Yeah. Anyways, well, that's a different podcast, but

He's really into music. Not just one genre. He's been deep diving into it for sure. Uh, DJ Kandyann, I don't I don't, I didn't get a chance to meet her, talk to her at all, but I did catch a good part of their set and it was awesome.
So definitely check them out. Mandy Candy as well. I think I was in, she was

I remember telling, uh, Samantha, like, yo, dude, there's no reason this girl can't be the next, like Megan Thee Stallion. She's up there like singing and dancing and like rapping a little bit. And her
stuff sounds good.

One of the daytime shows I like the whole lot of russell corbin. He's up there Acoustic guitar playing um I think all his songs he sang were original too Um, very good.
I think he played right before our good friend carrie lynn um, and she did few covers and she had this whole thing where she was doing like a You Like an act while she was doing her. Did you see any of it? Yeah. Yeah. She like pull out the bottle of the, of the fireball. The whole song is about being a drunk and she's out there.
I think she was drinking. But she she did a good job too. She put on a show. Yeah,

awesome, but I wish I could have seen more, seen more of her stuff.
Yeah. I mean, just honestly jam packed all weekend. The
silent disco sets were all. Pretty on par with the main stage sets. Like nobody disappointed this weekend. And then my favorite silent disco was Curtis filling in an empty slot. And Heath grew
down Curtis, it was so late and I was just like, it
was like three in the morning, but it was totally, we got there, it
was like all let's go.
And the whole group was like, I wanna go to bed, but I gotta see Curtis do his thing. . So we went over there and watched it and they're like, all right, that was awesome. I'm gonna catch three hours of sleep. And then come back to work some more. Working
a
festival. Is awesome.
Uh,
yeah, no, shout out to all the artists.
Um, I know that getting out to the middle of nowhere, Arkansas, is probably not easy for a lot of artists, and a lot of people had to drive. A lot of hours, some flew in as well. Um, and you know, folks were camping and getting hotels and all that. So we just, uh, we appreciate, you know, it's not like coming to Nashville where you, you know, play at a venue and all, everything's right there.
And so just appreciate everybody coming out for show and throwing down all weekend, shout out to the artists.

Shout out, she was awesome. She had these cookies that were, I came back for these cookies multiple times.
And then I think Sunday, she made french toast for everybody. Just like, hey, just come get some. Which I thought was really cool.

had a vegan dish. It was. A vegan pepperoni, peppuccini or something. Basically, a peppercini. A

a vegan dish, he's not vegan. You
can't go vegan and only eat one vegetable. But,

pepperoncini? I want to challenge Brian to go freaking vegan. I
don't think you ate a pepperoncini.
I'd have to ask her what it was. It was good though. I do know it was full vegan. Cause I paid money for the vegan option. And I know it was delicious. That's what I know. Um, what did you have there DJ? Did you have anything from Moon Moon Kitchen?

Uh, how about Tawanda's grilled cheese?
I did have a
grilled cheese. I ate like, that's almost all I ate the entire week, and I love them. I love grilled cheese, but she had one. It's like, Wontons in it, cream cheese, mozzarella, it
was fire.

got one of those when I was working the general store on Sunday.
I probably tried
before you got
there.
I probably tried to like five different type of grilled cheeses. Um,
yeah, I had the one with salsa and like tortilla chips and that was fire.
Yeah, she, yeah. I asked her like, how do you come up with these? Like, what else have you done? And she's like, I don't know. We just, Think of them and then we make them
the tomato soup was slapping too.
I didn't have any soup
But oh I took the wonton grilled cheese and was dipping it in the tomato soup.
Yeah And then I went and uh hung out with these vendors for a little bit, uh element five
Element five had some dope, uh, paintings. Yeah,
the Element five artwork, so like uv, your active and golden and dark, but some of 'em are like double layered, so you can see something glow in the dark, but if then if you add extra, you know, if you, uh, expose it a little bit more, there's like a hole in the layer.
Yeah. So it's very interesting because most things you just see like glows like, Oh, that's it. But then it was like, Oh, if you do a little bit longer, a whole different picture of forms.
Yeah. Are they on Instagram? Um,
yes. I'm pretty sure they are. She definitely has some kind of a social media presence, but had a lot of cool stuff, paintings and just stuff that she designed is awesome.
Yeah. No, we were kicking it with her for the first day, a little bit there as well. And yeah, definitely some dope, dope stuff. Um, How about get slush in Fancy nuts? I was about
to bring up, get Slush. Did you get one?
I did not throughout the weekend. Did you get one? You guys did, right? I did. You didn't get one?

I got one. I tried because I saw Samantha with them all weekend.
I tried a sample because I was over there filming some stuff and, uh. It was great, but I didn't never actually go back, which was, which is so dumb of me for how hot it was. Like,
I don't even remember what flavor I
got.

Because I was just like, you know, you know what you're doing.
You got slushed.
I did get slushed. And I think they were CBD slushies. What? Yeah.
There's some CBD in there. So probably a good thing. You didn't have one. You would have had anxiety real bad, but
CBD, not too. Oh, that's

and shout out also to Arkansas period project who was our kind of featured non profit of the weekend Shaney was the lady running that booth and basically Arkansas period project Um, provides feminine projects, uh, feminine projects. Provides feminine products, uh, to women in like impoverished and uh, uh, what's the word?
Like underfunded areas. So I thought that was really cool because, As I was doing more, like, research into what they do and why they do it and all that, that's like, again, that's another one of those things, like, we don't think about as dudes. Like, oh man, I'm on my period and I've gotta get tampons, but I don't have any money, like, how am I gonna go afford these tampons?
Like, that would be horrible. So shout out to Arkansas period project for everything that you guys do and making sure that those folks have to make sure they're gonna like Them on Instagram as well. She's really
nice, too.
Yeah, she was a real sweetheart. She had feminine products She was giving out all weekend educational
stuff to educational stuff
books stickers, and they also Definitely worth a follow because they do a lot of stuff Stuff with like women's rights and civil rights, just kind of all throughout Arkansas.
So especially if you're based in there, um, with like petitions and just kinda all that stuff they do a lot in, uh, in the Arkansas community. So again, shout out Arkansas period project. Make sure to go follow them on Instagram. Uh, any other vendors who come to mind?

That's, uh, he was really cool. We did the closing ceremony. I'm trying to think of his name right now. But I think that was his, it was on the right side. Yep, yep, yep. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, they helped out a lot too with setting up the festival as well.
So shout out to those guys. Uh, okay. Workshops. How about some workshops? I unfortunately, I
unfortunately also got to attend zero workshops. I did go, well, that's not true. I kind of went to the celebration of life ceremony
at
the beginning.
It's beginning. Okay.
When you were shooting footage.
Okay. Yeah. I attended that too.
That was, um, I was there
for a short amount of time and then I went to help Turner do production stuff.
It's very powerful and also, um,
Wait, Xavier, you were there for the whole thing?
Yes. Yeah, he was doing media. Tell us about it. So, you know, big inspiration for this festival, um, is because of, you know, Kyle's passing.
So they definitely put a lot more effort into this and thought about him quite a bit. But they held a space for people who've. Lost anyone or, you know, and, uh, they wanted to express how they felt and how it's changed their lives in a good way. And even some of the ways that weren't great and just how they're working through it.
And a lot of people don't have those conversations, like lose somebody. And they're just like super sad, but there's nothing like a group setting usually people are in where they're all able to express those feelings and maybe get some feedback on it. And it's cool to know you're not alone after you lose somebody.
I have lost a lot of people in my life. Um, And so seeing all these people talk about it, and recently losing somebody that was a big part of this whole thing and was a great friend of so many people and just seeing them express it and show how it motivated them to make things a little bit better for people and how it's changed their lives is, is good.
Yeah. And like I said, man, I heard a lot of stories throughout the weekend and a lot of probably more so posts on Facebook afterwards, just about how, um, This festival changed people's lives and helped them heal and had this trauma that they hadn't really dealt with and this baggage that they've been carrying it felt like they got down felt like that was probably a big catalyst for for doing that for a lot of folks
and they had so many vendors i wish they could have seen more um of those but there's not vendors i'm sorry workshops
what about uh ableton tutorial one
yeah so shout out to zach skywalker he's super cool dude Um, he was doing Ableton tutorial, like how to make beats and just literally talking about just how to make things have a certain sound for certain genre.
I think he did like one or two songs, maybe one song mainly, but just kind of talked about this, how do you get this sound that this, this certain artist has also really cool because Lita Lotus is out there like videoing it and taking notes and like she's A producer herself and he was teaching her stuff and she's like, I didn't know that.
That's so cool. Like I'm going to try that next time I make a track very interactive, which is amazing. Cause you know, so many festivals, it's, there's not a whole lot more to do besides go see shows. So having a festival where it's very interactive and you can learn things. And like, there's one of the other workshops was, um, I think they would like in capsule plants, like leaves and bugs, and you can turn into jewelry.
I didn't get to see that one, but that's one another one that I saw, but they did meditation and yoga and stuff like that. Yeah. Yeah.
And then the closing ceremony is right. Yeah. That was really interesting. That was really good. What was that like? You were gone. I was in route.
It was man. I've never, I mean I've never been to like a, you know, something that's like that.
So I dug a hole in the ground. And they gave everybody some type of like stone or like, you know, crystal or something. And then he spoke for a while and they'd put these in the ground and then he would say something else, but he also had Samantha and Turner speak. It was extremely emotional, um, watching them.
You know, sit there and take it all in and they both feel very, you know, heavy presence of Kyle being there. I'd hear Turner and Samantha both talk about, I would be doing this and I'd like hear Kyle's voice, you know, like, and they're like, yeah, you know, and respond to that and it helped push them throughout the weekend.
You know, it's just kind of it's just sad, you know, just Seeing two people so close To somebody who's a huge part of this organization this event just not have them there anymore
But i'm glad they were able to make a space for it Yeah, and like have
that you know, like they think like if he'd be here he'd be so proud.
So that's beautiful
Yeah, it was really beautiful when they buried the cow's mic In the hole and then uh, yeah, it's always going to be there The hawk came over right as we closed the ceremony a hawk flew directly over the group. It was pretty cool. Yeah

Uh again ready for next year if you haven't if you weren't there If you were at breakaway fest you messed up nashville you You Goofed up. So, uh, you've probably again seen on Facebook and Instagram photos and videos of what it looked like and if I can't convince you for 111 to get your ticket for next year for now for a multi day festival.
Yeah, and can't that's it Guys, that's 111 all things included. There's no car camping pass on top of it. There's no bullshit live nation fee. It's 111 flat. Um, and yeah, I believe prices are going to go up January, like first week of January. So we're almost to the end of October folks If you're doing the math in your head, you got just over two more months to make your decision for goddess awakening 2025
just go ahead and do it.
You know, you want to do it You're jealous you weren't there this year. It's too
close to Christmas. Just save up a little bit. It's only if you live in Tennessee or Milton see leads what six and a half seven hour drive
Even if even if you don't make the blind faith special The tickets aren't going to be that much more expensive.
They're not going to get crazy. It's a reasonably priced festival for multiple days of a great time with great people. Yeah.
And all your friends are out there this year and you missed out because you weren't there. Don't have that same feeling next year. So make sure to go like them on Facebook and Instagram as well.
